DIAMOND JUBILEE
CAMBRIDGE ANGLICAN CHURCH WEEK OF CELEBRATIONS (Special to Times) CAMBRIDGE, Friday St. Andrew’s Anglican Church will celebrate its diamond jubilee next week, commencing on Sunday. This day will actually be the 60th anniversary of the consecration of the church on August 31, 1881. There will be special services all day. The Bishop of Waikato, the Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, will celebrate Holy Communion at 8 a.m. and this service will be followed by a jubilee breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Parish Hall. At 11 a.m. the Rev. Canon C. Mortimer Jones, a former Vicar, will conduct the service and after this service the foundation stone of the new vicarage will be laid. The evening service will be conducted by the Rev. Frank ae Laval Willis, M.A., Vicar of New Plymouth, and a son of the first Vicar of St. Andrew’s Church, Archdeacon Willis. Throughout the coming week there will be special functions. On Sunday, September 8, in the afternoon, there will be a pilgrimage to the approximate site where the Rev. A. N. Brown preached his first sermon to the Maoris at Maungatautari, on August 1, 1884. There will be a Maori choir and the speaker will be the Ven. Archdeacon Honi Raiti.
