BOMBS ON CHUNGKING

Copyright) (Received June 7, 3.15 p.m.) CHUNGKING, June 6 Japanese bombers dropped flares, after which they set fire to the downtown shipping area. A dozen bombs hit the press hostel compound, starting two fires. It is officially stated that 700 people were suffocated in a supposedly bomb-proof tunnel when the four entrances, overcrowded with people, prevented ventilation.
