MONTREAL, May 7 At the annual meeting of the Canadian Pacific Railway Sir Edward Beatty announced that the company has acquired a majority interest in the four air lines operating in Western Canada. Sir Edward said the war demands a curtailment in non-military production, and there must be some loss of economic liberty. Only by control over production and distribution by financial mechanism and direct measures can the growing proportion be diverted to- national service. Sir Edward disclosed that two Canadian Pacific Railway vessels of the Beaver class have been sunk by enemy action.
