Mrs James T. Martin, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs W. Peterson, Hamilton, for the Peterson —Howe wedding.
Miss H. M. Strong, of the staff of the Hamilton High School, will spend the holidays at Rotorua.
Miss Norah Howe, Auckland, is visiting Hamilton to attend her sister, Miss Audrey Howe, as bridesmaid, at her marriage to Mr Arthur Peterson. Miss M. Millan, of the teaching staff of the Diocesan School, is spending the holidays in Wanganui. Miss M. Riley, Hamilton, will spend the school vacation in Wellington. Miss Z. Robins, Hamilton, is spending the school vacation at Auckland. The oldest women’s organisation in the Dominion, the Onehunga Ladies’ Benevolent Society, founded as one of the consequences of the Maori war in 1863, held its seventy-eighth consecutive annual meeting last week. Thought in Britain to be the first typist to launch a vessel is Miss Florence Franklin. She was chosen by ballot from among the workers who aided in the construction of the ship, and performed the ceremony at a British merchant ship-yard. TE AWAMUTU Mrs G. Waring has returned to Te Awamutu after a month spent in the Hawke’s Bay district. Mrs Cresswell has returned home after a holiday in Dannevirke. Mrs James Kay, Korakonui, was the guest of Mrs Charles Sing, Tatuanui, during the week-end for the Sing—Wratt wedding.
