CRASH OF PLANE
TEN PEOPLE KILLED CONGRESSMAN INCLUDED OTHERS CRITICALLY HURT (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright)* (Received Feb. 28, 3.15 p.m.) | ATLANTA (Georgia), Feb. 27 ; Eastern Air Lines officially report i that 10 persons were killed when a j sleeper plane crashed in scrubby i pine country, 20 miles from Atlanta. The killed included a member of the Congress, Mr William D. Byron, and both pilots. The plane crashed with 15 people. Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, president of the Eastern Air Lines, was 'critically injured and was taken to hospital. _ Those seriously injured include Mr K. A. Littledale, assistant-managing editor of the New York Times. Mr Littledale and his wife were en route to Mexico for a vacation. Several passengers were en route to points where the Government contemplates building important defence projects. LEGLESS AIRMAN DECORATED BY KING RECEIVES D.S.O. AND D.F.C. (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) , (Received Feb. 28, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 27 Squadron-Leader Bader, a legless pilot, was decorated by the King with the D.S.O, and the D.F.C. at a recent investiture.
Squadron-Leader Bader overcame the difficulties of the loss of both legs to such a degree that he led his squadron in many fights with Nazi airmen during the past year.
