The meeting was arranged by the British group of the Inter-Parliament Union and was one of a number of similar gatherings planned in the hope of affording private expert guidance on aspects of the war and its repercussions. In addition many of Chungking’s fifth columnists have entered Burma. The Nichi Nichi Shimbun said that this represents the strengthening of the British military demonstration along the entire Thailand border and .also the execution of the first step in Anglo-Chungking manoeuvres against Japan. The official spokesman of the Chungking Government has denied the Asahi Shimbun’s report. AMERICAN AIRCRAFT SENT TO THE PHILIPPINES 50 PLANES, 65 PILOTS (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Stimson, Minister of War, ! later announced that three of the six units have already been sent to Alaska and the others will go within two months.
