CARNIVAL ACTIVITIES There was a good attendance of dancers and card players in the Parish Hall, Ngaruawahia, when a combined euchre and dance was held in aid of the Holy Name Queen, Mrs W. Matangi. Music was supplied by Matangi’s Orchestra, and Mr W. Dooley was master of ceremonies. The euchre was won by Mesdames J. O’Kane and A. Menzies, and a novelty waltz was won by Sergeant Nesbit and Mrs V. Muller. Those present included: Mesdames W. Matangi, J. Roche, A. W. Speirs, A. Menzies, I. Powell, Pratt, J. O’Kane, P. Connelly, M. Fitness, V. Muller, J. Wallbank, Junr., J. Prendergast, W. Wilson. SACRED HEART QUEEN FUNDS A very pleasant evening organised by the Catholic Women’s League was held at the residence of Mr C. Friel, Great South Road, Ngaruawahia, recently, the proceeds being to augment the funds of the Sacred Heart Queen, Miss Margaret Friel. The evening was spent with euchre, dancing and vocal items. Music was supplied by Mesdames F. Tarplett and N. Matangi, and songs were rendered by Mrs Tarplett and Mrs Whelan. A competition was won by Mrs Tarplett. DANCE FOR MISS M. LITTLE The Oddfellows’ Hall, Ngaruawahia, presented a very animated scene recently when a very successful dance was held for the Children of Mary Queen, Miss Margery Little. Music was supplied by Matangi’s Orchestra, and extras by Miss Margery Little. A novelty waltz was won by Mrs W. Capper and Gunner H. Heeson. The euchre tournament was won by Mrs A. Barker and Mrs A.
