TOURNEY OPENS

HAMILTON CROQUET CLUB FIRST DAY’S PLAY The annual tournament of the Hamilton Croquet Club began yesterday in perfect weather, the greens, which are in splendid order, presenting an inviting appearance to members and the many visitors. The president of the club, Mr H. H. Howden, opened the tournament and wished the competitors successful and happy play. On behalf of South Auckland, the vice-president, Mrs J. R. Fow, suitably responded. The tourney is under the capable management of Mrs A. E. Savage, assisted by Mrs G. Brockelsby. Following are results of yesterday’s play:— Handicap doubles. Mesdames Brockelsby and Wainwright beat Mesdames Bullock and Teesdale; Mesdames Windsor and J. B.
