Copyright) WASHINGTON, Feb. 24 Geographical experts in Washington evaluate Mr Matsuoka’s claim to Oceania for Asiatics as including Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Samoa and Tahiti. Well-known definitions of Oceania include Melanesia and Polynesia and sometimes include Malaysia. From the context. Mr Matsuoka’s pretentious aspirations apparently extend the entire range of the Pacific, from Hawaii to Australia. Mr W. G. Magnuson, a member of the Naval Committee of the House of Representatives, referring, to Mr Matsuoka’s statement about Oceania, said the United States should oppose, by force if necessary, any Japanese moves in the area that jeopardise United States interests. He also proposed that the United States should give the fullest support to any nations resisting Japanese expansion in the Pacific, as Tokio was aligned with the Axis and would introduce totalitarianism throughout the Pacific.
