PLEASURE IN GIFTS
HOMELESS OF LONDON LADY GALWAY GUILDS (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Tuesday A letter from the officer in charge of the Women’s Voluntary Services for Cilil Defence, London, received by the standing committee of the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council expressed the appreciation of English air-raid victims for gifts sent from New Zealand by the Lady Galway Guilds “We have received a large number of cases of clothing from the Lady Galway Guild, for the homeless people of London, for which we are most grateful,” the letter said. “The clothes will be of immense use and the people to whom they are given will greatly appreciate them. “The pleasure which is shown by these unfortunate people on receiving the clothes is very touching. Often they have lost all they had, their home, their clothes and very often one or more of their relatives, but always they are cheerful, saying that someone else is worse off than themselves, and you never hear a grumble.”
