RAIL AND ROAD TRAFFIC DEMANDS ON TRAINS Thousands of holiday-makers have now reached their destination, while extra expresses are still conveying large numbers to different parts of the island. As the vast amount of activity at the Frankton Railway Junction today would suggest, trains have been much more popular this Christmas, undoubtedly because of the petrol rationing. It is estimated that approximately 12,000 people passed through Hamilton to-day on expresses en route to Wellington, Auckland, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Rotorua and Taneatua. Although the trains are being heavily taxed, road traffic is by no means light, while a noticeable feature has been the number of caravans. Road services are also in keen demand and bookings have been heavy. ___ *
