MOUNTED RIFLES
BRIGADE ORGANISATION HAMILTON AS HEADQUARTERS UNITS TO ENCAMP FEBRUARY 3 With the increase in the strength of the Mounted Rifles units in New Zealand provision has been made for brigade organisation. Hamilton has been chosen as the centre for Headquarters, First New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade. This unit will be mobilised for its course of intensive training for home defence on February 3. Recently it was announced that the Mounted Rifles units in the North Island would not mobilise for intensive training in January as planned. A date has now been fixed for the start of intensive training, and the Waikato Mounted Rifles Regiment will be mobilised on February 3. Other units to encamp on that date are the Auckland (East Coast) Mounted Rifles, and the North Auckland Mounted Rifles The following units will mobilise on April 1: Fifth Composite Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps; First Reserve Mechanical Transport Company, Eighth Field Ambulance, Hamilton; First Motor Ambulance Convoy, Auckland; Northern Remount Depot, New Zealand Veterinary Corps; Northern Veterinary Hospital; Fourth Provost Company Corps, New Zealand Military Police.
