The party informally discussed its attitude regarding a National Government, or. alternatively, a National War Council similar to that in New Zealand. The meeting was adjourned until tomorrow to hear the Prime Minister’s “frank statement” on the international situation, after which Mr Menzies’ appeal for the formation of an all-party Government for the energetic prosecution of the war will be discussed. Mr J. Curtin was re-elected leader of the party. Mr F. M. Forde deputyleader, and Mr N. J. O. Makin whip.
