WAIPAWA NOMINATION

WHY MR R. M. ALGIE DECLINED j (By Telegraph.—T’ r ess Association) AUCKLAND. Monday Commenting on the invitation from ! prominent farmers and businessmen of Waipawa to contest the forthcoming by-election, Mr R. M. Algie. oi Auckland, organiser of the New Zealand Freedom Association, said he naturally regarded the invitation as a very great compliment. However, the council of the Freedom Association unanimously felt that a nonresident candidate, if elected, could not do full justice to a district where farming interests were of such outstanding importance. It was also felt that work in Parliament would under the present circumstances interfere with and perhaos prejudice the work of the association, which was needed more than ever today.
