KAIPAKI FUNCTION
PATRIOTIC FUNDS BENEFIT A most successful dance, organised by the young people of the district, and under the patronage of the local patriotic committee, was held in the Kaipaki Hall recently. The stage and hall were decorated with flags, greenery and flowers and the colour scheme of the long supper tables was red, white and blue, with large bowls of multi-coloured Iceland poppies and copper beech foliage. .Music was played by Sid Strange’s orchestra, and novelty dances were won by Mr A. Boyd and Miss G. Turnwald, and by Mr T. Ganley and Miss I. Farrell. Winners of other trophies were Mr F. Edwards, Miss Doreen Akehurst, Mr L. Hodgson and Mr C. Bones. Before presenting the prizes, Mr R. Boyd, chairman of the patriotic committee, congratulated the young people on the successful dance, from which the patriotic funds would considerably benefit. He also thanked all donors of gifts. A five hundred drive was won by Mr and Mrs A. M. Fisher. Amongst those present were:— Mesdames R. Boyd, prune figured crepe; A. E. McDonald, rust velvet; A. M.
