ERNDALE’S SUCCESS BEAU LEON WINS AGAIN MILANION IN THE LAST Royevrus, in scoring narrowly from his stablemate, Our Jean, provided the highlight of yesterday’s programme at Avondale, when unpleasant weather conditions early in the day improved later and resulted in totalisator investments showing a marked increase on last year’s figures. Beau Leon repeated his first-day success by winning well from Lou Rosa in the Guineas, while Erndale scored in a spectacular finish from Blonde Princess and Valimeen in the open sprint. The concluding event was to the credit of Milanion over Hunting Bee and Valdene. The track was cutting out as a result of overnight rain, and the attendance under the conditions obtaining was highly satisfactory. Following are the concluding results:— AVONDALE GUINEAS. After lying third along the back and following Rich Rlood and Marshall Hall at the hair-mile, lie moved up on terms with them at the turn. and. asserting himself in tlie straight, he carried on to win very nicely by a length. Lou Rosa came from a long way bark to be second, while Sir Cameron, who appeared to meet a rheck in the comparatively early stages, did well for a meritorious third. The favourite, Marshall Hall, laded in the straight, after having every chance. Rich Blood led early from Beau Leon, Marshall Hall, Grandora, Happicoat, Phaleron and Sir Cameron. Racing along the back Marshall Hall had run up behind Rich Rlood and this pair was making play at this stage from Beau Leon, Sir Cameron and pnaleron. Rich Blood and Marshall Hall were practically abreast as they raced across the top, and as they approached the home turn they were Joined by Beau Leon, who was shading them as they straightened up. At the distance Beau Leon commenced to draw away, and when It looked as though he would win easily. Lou Rosa, with a late challenge, I ran him to a length. Erndale finished brilliantly, after being well baek at the turn to prevail in a spectacular finish with Blonde Princess and Valimeen. only the Judge being in a position to separate the trio. TOTALISATOR UP INCREASE OF £20,409 The totalisator yesterday handled £42,258 10s as against £37,226 on the second day last year—an increase of £5032 10s. Over the two days of the meeting the machines handled £107,110 10s, compared with £86,701 10s last season—an increase of £20,409.
