PALESTINE AND TRANSJORDAN .. PURCHASE OF AIRCRAFT GRATITUDE OF GOVERNMENT (Official Wireless) (Received Sept. 17, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 16 Lord Lloyd has asked the High Commissioner for Palestine to convey the warmest thanks of the Government for the splendid contribution of £28,500 from Palestine and Transjordan towards the production of aircraf:. “This evidence of the determination of the people of these regions to support the common cause is,” the Colonial Secretary added, “most encouraging.” Senseless Brutality Messages have been telegraphed to the High Commissioner for Palestine from Mr Winston Churchill and Lord Lloyd, expressing sympathy with the people of Tel-Aviv, who recently were bombed by the Italians. Mr Churchill asked that the Mayor of Tel-Aviv be informed of his deep sympathy in the losses sustained, and added: “This act of senseless brutality will only strengthen our united resolve.”
