SOCIAL AFTERNOON

ST. ANDREW’S LADIES’ GUILD A happy social afternoon was held recently by members of the St. Andrew’s Ladies’ Guild in the church hall, when there was a large attendance to enjoy the excellent programme provided for their entertainment. Flowers were much in evidence, each member being presented with a buttonhole on arrival, and the plant and flower stall in charge of Mrs G. Clevely and Mrs R. A. Johnston did a brisk business. At the meeting, over which the president, Mrs Clive Henry, presided, arrangements were made for the sending of parcels to all members of the church who are serving overseas. Following the conclusion of the business, vocal solos by Mrs Bradley, cello solos by Mrs Spragg and a recital of English folk songs by these talented artistes, were enthusiastically received by an appreciative audience.

A talk on gardening by Mr A. W. Green was followed with much interest and proved very helpful to the many keen gardeners present. The hostesses who served afternoon tea were Mesdames D. Robertson, J. F. Vercoe, G. Sherson, I. Baxter, G. Moore, A. W. Bradman, J. Irvine, A. G. Boyes, R. Street, E. Wallace, E. Smith.
