SURPLUS FOOD
ACCUMULATION IN BRITAIN HELP FOR THE CONTINENT NAZI CHARGE ANSWERED (United Press Assn.— Tel. Copyrlgrht) (Received August 16, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 15 It is authoritatively stated that Britain is examining a plan to accumulate and store the present surplus stocks of foodstuffs throughout the Empire against the time when they will be available to territories which Germany is now occupying. The plan includes financing the purchasing of the surpluses. Authoritative circles discount the German propaganda that Britain is forcing Europe to famine, since it is estimated that there are nearly 10,000,000 tons of bread and grains throughout Europe, in addition to foodstuffs such as dried milk which were formerly exported to Britain. For this reason, if Germany distributed the food equitably among the territories, there would be sufficient* to stave off actual hunger for a considerable time.
