SUCCESSFUL DANCE
FUNDS FOR SOLDIERS’ PARCELS A successful dance was held recently in the Waiterimu-Matahuru hall, when there was a large attendance from all surrounding districts, and the soldiers’ parcel fund to which the proceeds were devoted, benefited to a large extent. Mystery parcels, a produce stall, a'nd guessing competitions added their quota. During the evening, Mr W. C. E. George, Mayor of Huntly, and the Rev. F. Rankin, of Huntly, addressed the gathering on behalf of the Patriotic Society. A branch was formed with the following committee:—Mesdames C. Storey, McGovern, Harrison, Grundy, Ludwig, and Miss M. Brash, Messrs J. Grundy (chairman), W. Lawry (secretary), A. Corry, D. Harrison, R. Dickenson, McGovern, E. McDonald, C. Storey, Curtis, H. Newton, W. H. Storey, A. Brash. The Women’s Institute was responsible for the excellent supper and music was supplied by Mr W. Cooper, of Waerenga, with his pianoaccordion. Mr N. Lawry was an efficient master of ceremonies.
