UNITED HOUSEWIVES

CRECHE IN HAMILTON The fortnightly meeting of the United Housewives Movement took place at the Y.M.C.A. recently, when Mrs Slater presided. It was decided that members help in the Red Cross shop for one day, preferably a Tuesday, in September. In order to discuss the establishment of a creche in Hamilton the committee arranged to meet the committee of the League of Soldiers’ Relations. This organisation is desirous of obtaining support in this important matter. Mr Ohlsen, W.E.A. tutor, gave a lecture on “Education and Democracy,” which was followed with interest by the members. It was made known that Miss Ann Lennan, of Auckland, would be visiting Hamilton on Thursday, August 22, when a lecture will be given in the Centreway. This will be on “The Right to be Born Healthy,” and it is hoped that all women interested will attend.

The next meeting will take place on Thursday, August 8, at the Y.M.C.A. at 2 p.m.
