CELEBRITY CONCERT

TUESDAY NEXT IN HAMILTON Great interest is being taken in the appearance at the Theatre Royal, Hamilton, next Tuesday of the celebrity artists. The box plan will open tomorrow morning. Isobelle Baillie, the soprano, has made headway by dint of hard work and sheer ability. After singing foi some years in the provinces, the opportunity came for her to perform in London, and she sang with success at the Queen's Hall, which claimed her no less than six times in the first season. Gladys Ripley, at the age of seventeen years, sang the second contralto part in the performance of “Elijah” at the Royal Albert Hall, London, the beautiful quality of her voice being much admired. She has also performed at Covent Garden during the season of grand opera. Heddle Nash, the tenor, made his first performance in grand opera in England at the “Old Vic” in “Rigoletto” and made it with so pronounced a success that his future was assured. Oscar Natzke was granted a special scholarship by the Trinity College of Music, and proceeded to London, where all agreed that he had everything in his favour, voice, range, and stage presence. The Centennial String Quartette, consisting of Messrs Vincent Aspey, first violin; Harry Ellwood, second violin; William McLean, viola; and Francis Bate, violincello; will also appear, while Mr Clifford Huntsman is the accompanist and solo pianist.
