FINAL RUSH
VOLUNTEER SOLDIERS 118 IN LAST TWO DAYS RESPONSE IN No. 4 AREA With 118 men enlisting for military service in the first two days of this week, it is apparent that in the No. 4 (Hamilton) military area the final week of voluntary recruiting will bring almost a record number of men to the colours. The Army Office in Hamilton has been receiving a steady stream of recruits throughout the day each day this week, while men in the outside districts, especially Taumarunui, have revealed a willingness to join the army as volunteers. Medical boards are sitting in all the main centres in the No. 4 area this week, with the principal examination in Hamilton today. A large number of recruits was X-rayed at the Waikato Hospital and more than 100 are awaiting the X-ray examination. No men will be despatched to camp from the No. 4 area this week, with the result that voluntary recruiting should conclude with the area having considerably more recruits than are required to furnish the quota of 492 for the Fourth Reinforcements of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. No date has been announced for the mobilisation of this draft of troops.
