SYMPATHY IN DEATH BRITISH OFFICER'S LETTER DROPPED FROM PLANE (Official Wireless) (Received July 8, 3.15 p.m.) RUGBY, July 7 It is reported from Cairo today that on the occasion of Marshal Balbo’s death Air Marshal Longmore, Air Officer Commanding the Middle East, sent a personal letter of condolence to the Commander-in-Chief I in Libya, expressing regret at the death of Marshal Balbo, whom he knew personally and greatly esteemed. The letter was flown over and dropped in enemy territory.
