CONCERT & DANCE

NGAHINAPOURI W.D.F.U. The Ngahinapouri branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held a concert and dance in the Ngahinapouri Hall recently, when there was a large attendance. The hall was decorated with branches of golden wattle and masses of greenery. Several stalls did brisk business during the evening, the following members being in charge:—Mesdames Neil and Reid, produce; Mrs Coxhead and Miss Pulman, miscellaneous; Mrs Chapman and Mrs C. Baker, sweets; Mrs Fitness, fish pond; Mrs Neilson, bran tub. The programme, arranged by the president, Miss Jamieson, included recitations and songs by the school children; song and dance, Miss Patty Allen; song, Miss Elaine Gillard; one-act play, “Something to Talk About,” Mrs W. McFarland, Miss J. Bain, Messrs W. McFarland, C. Reid, E. Reid, T. Livingstone and P. Mills. An original item was a demonstration of boxing by Mr A. Bromwich and pupils.

Supper was served under the management of Mesdames Bromwich, Wing, McWhannell and Moss, after which Mrs Wylie played excellent music for dancing. Mr W. McFarland was master of ceremonies. Miss Harvey and Mr R. Gillard were the winners of competitions.
