help from colonies PURCHASE OF AEROPLANES SMALL ISLAND’S GENEROSITY fomclal Wireless) (Received July 3, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, July 2 Two further colonial contributions to the Empire war effort were announced today. Conveying “ their fervent wish and prayers that God may carry Britain victoriously through this war,” the Kabaka Government and people of Buganda have sent £IO,OOO as a gift to the Imperial Government for war purposes. The sum of £50,000 has been received from Falkland Island as a result of a unanimous resolution by the Legislature Council that this sum be applied to the purchase of aeroplanes. This represents a substantial gift from the colony, which numbers 2400 people and which already bears the cost of its own defence.
