SIMPSON—LOCK SILK VELVET GOWN A charming wedding was solemnised at All Saints’ Church of England, Matamata, on Saturday, June 1, when Hilda Elizabeth (May) only daughter of Mr and Mrs S. J. Lock, of Walton, was married to Henry McGowan, third son of Mr and Mrs J. W. Simpson, Burwood Road, Matamata. The Rev. P. Scott, cousin of the bridegroom, officiated at the ceremony, and Mr Perry Ingham presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a beautiful gown of cream French silk velvet, cut on princess lines. The bodice featured a ruched waistline, and a band of ruching was inset into the squared neckline. The back of the frock was finished with tiny selfcovered buttons and the skirt fell in soft folds to form an oval train. A beautiful veil, lent by the bridegroom’s mother, was held in place by two cream velvet tiger lilies, and a sheaf of cream lilies, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern was carried. The Attendants Attending as bridesmaids were Miss Betty Johnston, of Hamilton, cousin of the bride, Miss Pat Simpson, of Matamata, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Nancy McDonald, of Hastings, cousin of the bride. They wore frocks of rouge red silk velvet, cut on princess lines and featuring heart-shaped necklines. The back of each was finished to the waistline with small velvet buttons, and fully flared skirts fell from the pointed corsages. Topknots of toning flowers were worn and each bridesmaid carried a sheaf of chrysanthemums in autumn shadings. Mr Mark Madill, of Taihoa, was best man, and the duties of groomsmen were carried out by Messrs W. and R. Lock, brother of the bride. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held in Loveridge’s Tearooms, where Mrs Lock received the guests wearing a becoming ensemble of mulberry romaine, furs, and a matching peach bloom hat. Her bouquet was of seasonal blooms in shades from pink to mulberry. She was assisted by Mrs J. W. Simpson, who wore a smart knitted suit in a deep rust shade, with furs and a matching hat. She carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted blooms. Mrs Johnston, of Hamilton, the bride’s grandmother, was in a black tailored costume, furs, and a matching hat. She carried a posy of daphne and violets. When Mr and Mrs H. McG. Simpson left on their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a frock of Tuscan grape crepe with a matching coat, a peachbloom hat and furs. CAMERON—FLETCHER BRIDE IN SOUPLE SATIN A charming wedding was solemnised at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Hamilton, on the afternoon of Saturday, June 15, when Isabel May, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. W. Fletcher, of Nixon Street, Hamilton East, was married to Malcolm, youngest son of Mr Cameron, of Hastings, and the late Mrs Cameron. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. J. Lilbum, of Auckland. and Mrs L. St. George presided at the organ. The church had been beautifully arranged with Iceland poppies and green foliage. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Arthur Fletcher, was wearing a lovely gown of American souple satin, cut on slim-fitting princess lines. The bodice, which was trimmed at the back with tiny satin buttons, featured short puffed sleeves and a V-shaped neckline adorned with a pearl clip and a spray of orange blossom. The skirt fell in full graceful folds to form a train. Her three-quarter length waterfall veil of tulle was caught to the head with orange blossom and was worn over the face when the bride entered the church. She carried a shower bouquet of white ehrysanthe-

mums, freezias, pink carnations and j maidenhair fern. The Bridesmaids In attendance on the bride were her sister, Miss Lucy Fletcher, and Miss Dorothy Signal, who wore similarly frocked in azure blue taffeta. The gowns were designed with softly shirred bodices, the backs of which were trimmed with tiny taffeta buttons. and short shirred sleeves. The bouffant skirts were fully flounced. Sprays of violets caught the shoulderlength hand-worked veils of blue tulle to their heads, and they carried bouquets of carnations, violets and maidenhair fern. \The duties of best man were carried out by Mr A. Robertson, of Hastings, and Mr T. Hill, of Auckland, was the groomsman. The ushers at the church were Messrs J. Seelv and C. Henderson. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Knox Hall, which was artistically decorated with marigolds, Iceland poppies and violets. Mrs Fletcher received her guests in a mulberry frock and hat worn with navy accessories and furs. She wore a shoulder spray of pink carnations. When Mr and Mrs M. Cameron left by car for the wedding trip, the bride travelled in a powder blue frock, a Burgundy military coat and hat and Burgundy accessories. They will make their home in Hastings.
