SUBSIDY SCHEMES DETAILED INEXPEPJENCED MEN ONLY The Department of Labour has supplied details of the scheme for the employment by farmers of subsidised labour. The subsidy on wages applies to all inexperienced men of 20 years and over, whether or not they are registered for relief purposes, who are engaged through an office of the Labour Department or of the Social Security Department. There is no wages subsidy for experienced men, although they are entitled to the weekly house allowance of 12s 6d, similarly to inexperienced labour, in the case of married men where accommodation is not available and they are separated from their families. For inexperienced I men the subsidy is 30s a week for ; the first six months and 15s a week for the second six months, with the house allowance added in eligible ; cases. The farmer is required to pay at j least award wages, which vary according to age and the type of farming followed. On a dairy farm, employees aged 20 are to receive £2 ; 6s a week and those 21 or over £2 \ 12s 6d a week.
