FLYING HANDICAP

USEFUL SPRINT CONTEST THIRTEEN ENGAGED A CHANCE FOR FOXSEN The sprint event, the Flying Handicap, to be run on Saturday at Tauranga, contains the requisite material for a great betting race. Black Thread has been racing consistently this season and last month at Gisborne won over six furlongs in an exciting finish with Native Song. His 10.3 on that occasion is sufficient indication that he can carry weight. The improving Foxsen won so well over seven furlongs on the latter day at Te Aroha that she is sure to make a bold bid for sprint supremacy here. Corato is a speedy type who ran away with the open sprint on the first day at Rotorua, while on a firm track Lornacre will have to be considered. Foxmond is handily placed as also is Penzance, who, however, was galloped on at Pukekohe, where she ran a fine third to Valimeen and Orwere and only slight improvement on that running would give her a great chance to make amends. Te Kawiti, Sir Robin and Noitaro should hold the others safe in a race in which the elect may be Foxsen, Corato, Penzance and Lornacre.
