HEAVY RAINFALL
FIGURES FOR FEBRUARY AVERAGE FAR EXCEEDED With rain falling on 19 days out of the 29, the rainfall figures for February in Hamilton show a great increase on those for the corresponding month of last year, and are far beyond the average for the month. Throughout the period very unseasonable conditions were experienced, only a small percentage of real summer weather being the order. . _ . Heavy rains, almost tropical in their intensity at times, fell on several days and made a great difference to the total registration of rain for the month, which has an average of 3.10in. Last month 5.58in. fell, 2.48in. above the average, compared with the total fall of 1.4 1 in. in February of last year. For the first two months of this year 12.83in. have fallen in Hamilton, compared with 8.72in. for the corresponding period of last year. Following are the February totals since 1932:—1932, 2.80in.: 1933, 7.02in.; 1934, 2.79in.; 1935, 4.77in.; 1936, 9.61in.; 1937, 1.98in.; 1938, 7.65in.; 1939, 1.47in.
