CENSORSHIP IN FRANCE
SOCIALIST LEADER'S ATTACK IGNORANCE OF CONDITIONS (United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright) PARIS, Feb. 17 The Socialist leader, M. Blum, in the Chamber of Deputies, made a severe attack on the censorship when he opened a debate on the control of the press. He said an incompetent military personnel had been appointed. It had discredited itself by ignorance ol the conditions under which the press worked. It had made impossible demands on the newspapers, upon which it had inflicted heavy losses. The policy of the censors was incoherent and suppressed news to some newspapers and realeased it to others. It was impossible to keep France like a fortress—cut off from the world’s news as in the last war. The bad wireless services were ineffective.
The debate was adjourned.
