CAMBRIDGE WEDDING

WATT-HARDY TEA-ROSE SATIN GOWN A wedding of interest in Cambridge was solemnised at St. j Andrew’s Church, on Saturday evening when Joan Winifred, second : daughter of Mr and Mrs E. L. Hardy, | of Thornton Road, Cambridge, was i married to James Alexander, eldest j son of Mr and Mrs James Watt, of Hautapu. The Very Rev. T. P. i Weatherhog, Dean of Hamilton, was ■ the officiating minister and Mr R. B. j Boyce played the wedding music. ■ The bride, who entered the church I with her father, wore a beautiful i gown of tea-rose satin. The softlydraped bodice was designed with a Quaker collar embossed with pearls j and Jhe long fitting sleeves, also ' pearl embossed, were scalloped over | the hands. The full circular jkirt, I defined at the waistline with a ; shaped pearl embossed belt, fell to | form a scalloped train over which fell a filmy veil of hand-embossed tulle held to the head by a satin coronet. She carried a bouquet of St. Joseph lilies and cream roses. The Attendants In attendance were a bridesmaid. Miss Erica Hardy, and two floweri girls, Nancye McMillan and Barbara ; Haworth. The ’maid’s frock of holl.v- ---■ hock georgette was mounted on tafi feta and featured sleeves of tiny ' petals and a belt embroidered in gold ; tissue leaves and flowers. She wore a matching turban and carried a j bouquet of red roses and carnations, j The small flowergirls’ frocks, re- ! plicas of the bridesmaid’s frock, were : of mist-of-morn green and they wore : matching Juliet caps finished with gold petals and velvet bows, and i carried dainty Victorian posies of j pastel-pink flowers and tulle. Mr B-tuce Watt was the best man i and Messrs J. R. Haworth, S. M. j Griffith and S. J. Wakeman were the ! ushers. | In the parish hall, which had been ; beautifully decorated with pastel- • shaded flowers, a reception was held | after the ceremony. To receive the ! guests Mrs E. L. Hardy was wear--1 ing a model gown of viola-panne j velvet with embossed sleeves, a ' matching turban and she carried a • posy of roses and carnations in claret ! tonings. She was assisted by the i bridegroom’s mother, Mrs James Watt, who wore a frock of teal dull • French crepe adorned with gold | antique ornaments and a cavalier ; cape. She wore a teal beret hat of | soft velour with a crown of appliqued j shaded flowers and her posy was of I deep clover-shaded roses. J When Mr and Mrs J. A. Watt left j for the honeymoon, the bride j travelled in a suit of airforce-blue I with which she wore clover acces- | sories. They will make their home in 1 Cambridge.
