PERFORMERS’ CLUB
“WIZARD OF OZ” PRESENTED RECORD NUMBER PRESENT One of the most delightful programmes yet presented was enjoyed by members and guests of the Hamilton Performers’ Club on Saturday night. Mr G. Kingston’s studio was filled to capacity and an air of gaiety prevailed throughout the evening. Dance music was supplied by Mr W. Whitehead, and Mr L. Dreadon •was master of ceremonies. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the delightful musical novelty based on the “Wizard of Oz,” produced by Mr R. Pedrotti'. The following members of the cast gave clever characterisations of the roles they were portraying:— Dorothy, Miss Leonie Swarbrick; Cowardly Lion, A. Cope; Straw Man, D. Reid; Tin Man, R. Pedrotti; Wicked Witch, Mrs A. Cope; Wizard of Oz, H. J. Ferguson; Munchkins. Mrs W. Whitehead, Miss T. Molesworth, S. Carroll and J. Lee.
Stage management was under the direction of Mr G. Garvey and the company was assisted by the club’s harmony choir.
Other items were as follows:—lnstrumental trio, Miss T. Molesworth, Messrs J. Ball and W. Whitehead; vocal solos, I. Corbert and Miss D. Liddy; humour, D. Reid. Accompaniments were played by Messrs W. Whitehead and S. Jackson.
