CONDEMNED TERRORISTS
MEN EXECUTED NO DEMONSTRATION (United Press Aten.— fclec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 7 The two Irishmen, Peter Barnes, aged 32, and James Richards, aged 29, who were sentenced to d?ath of charges of murder arising from the Coventry bomb explosion on August 25, were executed this morning at Birmingham gaol at 9 a.m., and two notices to that effect were posted on the prison gates seven minutes later. There were no demonstrations. TROUBLE THREATENED
REQUEST FOR DELAY PROOF OF INNOCENCE ALLEGED (United Press Assn.—Ei*r. T**t CnpvrlfHt) LONDON, Feb. 6 On the eve of the execution of Barnes and Richards the police i guard was doubled at Birmingham 1 prison. The streets were patrolled, and pedestrians were not allowed to congregate outside the prison. The Birmingham authorities have received threats of trouble if the executions aie carried out. Mr Tom Barry, the former Republican leader, telegraphed to Mr De Valera to request the British Government to delay the execution to enable the presentation of “conclusive proof of the condemned men's innocence."
