The Governor-General, Viscount Galway returned to Auckland from the Centennial celebrations at Waitangi by the Government steamer Matai yesterday. The Hon. F. Jones, Minister of Defence, was in Hamilton last night. Mr H. D. Caro, Mayor of Hamilton, is visiting Auckland. The Hon. J. Cotter, M.L.C., of Hinuera, is visiting Auckland. Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief of the General Staff, was in Hamilton last night. Messrs E. St.C. Haydon (Palmerston North), F. W. Yates (Auck- ; land) and A. G. Strang (Putaruru) ! are at the Hamilton Hotel. Drs. J. F. Filmer and I. J. Cunningham (Wellington) and Mr B. Levy (Palmerston North) are in Hamilton and are at Hotel Midland. Messrs A. T. Haigh, J. Dutton (Taumarunui), B. C. Magill, li. L. ! Wallace, R. Teal (Auckland) and J. . Edwards (Tauranga) are at Hotel ! Midland. I The Right Rev. W. H. Baddeley, 1 Bishop of Melanesia, will arrrive in i Hamilton this evening from Auckland) and will stay with Mr F. W. Platts. B. V. Wheeler relinquished 1 duties .as manager of the Union Steam Ship Company at Auckland yesterday. After a holiday he will leave New Zealand early next month to take up an appointment as manager for the company at Melbourne. His successor, Mr A. R. Thompson, formerly manager for the company at Christchurch, will take up his new 1 intiM today.
