HOtVDEN SCORES CENTURA (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Saturday The highlights o£ to-day’s Auckland senior cricket matches were the scoring of a century by Peter Howden for Middlemore, after two halfcenturies in his only innings in the other two games; a fine double by Ces Burke ('Grafton), 69 runs and four wickets for 28; the hard luck of “Dick" Cleave in missing his hundred for Ponsonby-Balmoral by only four runs (Cleave went in first and was last man out), and the feat of Geoffrey Simmonds (formerly of Middlemore), the promoted Shore bowler in taking seven for 49. Results at stumps were:— University 169 against Eden 77 for one wicket. Parnell 95 against Grafton 157 for five wickets. North Shore 36 for one wicket against Ponsonby-Balmoral 185.
