WARNING TO JAPAN

DANGER OF PRESSURE STATEMENT BY AMBASSADOR United Tress Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) NEW YORK, Nov. 4 The Tokio correspondent of the United Press of America says the United States Ambassador to Japan. Mr Joseph Grew, bluntly warned the Japanese Foreign Office of the danger of economic pressure by the United States if the present programme in China were continued. Mr Grew said the United States expects the cessation of all anti-Ameri-can action by the Japanese in China in China and also “ concrete evidence of the intention of the Japanese Government to effect an improvement in the situation.” It is understood that the Foreign Minister replied that Japan was •anxious to adjust her relations with third Powers and feels the adjustments should be “ correlated ” with Japanese policy in supporting Mr Wang Chingwei. The State Department denies that Mr Grew warned Japan of United States economic pressure, according to a message from Washington.
