FIVE BILLS PASSED
DAY IN PARLIAMENT RURAL HOUSING BILL APPEARS LOANS FOR FARM DWELLINGS (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Friday With the Bills put through all stages and passed, good progress was made by the House of Representatives today with legislation on the Order Paper. The last of these was approved ; *t 4.55 p.m., when the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, who was apparently satisfied with the da* s work, took the usual week-end adjournment until Tuesday afternoon. He indicated that he hoped to introduce the wartime taxation proposals at that sitting. The measures passed were the Patents Designs and Trade Marks Amendment Bill, the Reserves and Ollier ands Disposal Bill, the Native Purposes Bill, the Wages Protection and Contractors Liens Bill, and the Local Legislation Bill. Two new measures, the Rural Housing Bill and the Pharmacy Bill, were also introduced by Governor-General's message. The latter Bill is simply a re-drafting of the measure of the same name Introduced a few weeks ago. The making of advance* to farmers for the erection of dwellings for their own use or that of their employees is provided for in the Rural Housiijg Bill. Loans are limited to £750, and these will be made by local authorities, which will obtain the necessray finance from the State Advances Corporation.
