WIRELESB AND PRESS WAIVING OF COPYRIGHT United Press A*«=n Finn n»i cnnv'-'ir*' CANBERRA, Sept. 21 The Minister of Information, Sir Henry Gullett, announced in the House of Representatives yesterday that the Australian copyright of foreign news supplied to the British Broadcasting Commission, which for years had been the possession of the Australian Associated Press, has now been waived in favour of the Australian Broadcasting Commission and B class stations. Sir Henry acknowledged the generosity of the newspapers in this respect and pointed out that the arrangement made with the Australian Associated Press for continued free use of 8.8. G. bulletins by all broadcasting stations, would enable the public to obtain overseas news as soon as possible after release in London. The chairman of the Associated Press had emphasised the desire of the newspapers to co-operate with the new Ministry of Information, and to make every effort to consolidate and intensify the nation's war effort.
