TRANSPORT CONTROL MEASURE IN EMERGENCY (By TelegTapb.—Prp«- Association! HASTINGS, Friday Two hundred transport operators from all parts of Hawke’s Bay met in Hastings last night to learn the terms of the proposed Government control of the industry. The proposals were well received and a resolution stated: “That this meeting of combined motor transport operators, representative of the Hawke’s Bay district, places on record its appreciation of the confidence reposed in the industry to effect, of its own accord, the degree of economy necessary in the existing national emergency.” It was emphasised that the Government had no desire to dictate to the industry, but desired to act in the fullest possible consultation and cooperation with it in every section.
