«Ct» TRIP TO 80UTH AFRICA COUNCIL SUGGESTS ABANDONMENT FATE OF TRLA.L MATCHES (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday In view of the war and an inquiry from the South African Rugby Board asking for an indication of New Zealand's views on the continuation of preparations, the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union today discussed the South African tour, and decided to suggest that unless hostilities cease by January the tour be abandoned till after the war. Whether there is to be any alteration in the trials programme will be decided this afternoon after a meeting with the players has been held. THIRD GRADE TEAM SOME ALTERATIONS MADE Some changes have been made in the Hamilton third grade representative team to travel to Matamata tomorrow. The team is now as follows: Backs. —T.
