PEDIGREE BULLS
MATAMATA CLUB SALE The annual pedigree Jersey bull sale, held under the auspices of the Matamata Jersey Club took place at Matamata on Monday. The major portion of the 120 bulls catalogued came forward, and although some were showing the effects of the hard winter conditions majority were offered in good serviceable condition. A good attendance of buyers was present and although there were no extremely high prices a steady sale resulted and a good average was maintained throughout, the only exception being a few small and out of condition animals. Top price of the sale was 40 guineas, realised by Mr A. G. Melrose’s “ Shelford Ripple." the purchaser being Mr H. Baxendine, of Okauia. The sale was conducted by The Farmers! Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, Mr F. M. Harkness officiating in the rostrum. The principal sales were as follows : On account of Mr A. G. Melrose: “ Shelford Ripple," to Mr H. Baxendine, Okauia, 40 gns; "Shelford Quest," to Mr M. E. Gould, Taihoa, 25 gns. On account of Mr J. Colson: - Brookdell Jap,” to Mr J. Hetherington, 37 i gns; “ Brookdell Lord Duke," to Mr H. Voicey, Okauia, 33 gns; “ Brookdell Neptune,” to Mr R. Hogan, Cambridge, 30 gns; "Brookdell Bonny Briton,” to Mr A. J. Carmichael, re Aroha, 25 gns. On account of Mr H. Lewis: “ Pinedale Cossack," to Mr S. Germann, Hinuera, 31 gns; "Pinedale Comet," to Mr Fergus Watson, 29 gns; " Pinedale Buster," to Mr F. W. Maisey, 24 gns. On account of Mr N. M. Colson: "Brookdell Norman," to Mr A. S. Thirlwall, 30 gns; " Brookdell Ruth Star," to Mr A. Iletheringlon, 23 gns; "Brookdell Axiom,” to Mr J. Headon, Waharoa, 21 gns. Ori account of Messrs Wm. Dunn & Sons: “ Premier Royal Ensign," to Mr F. Montague, Gordon, 28 gns; "Premier Royal Pirate," to Mr R. Mc-Minn, Hinuera. 21 gns; and "Premier Royal Eagle,” to the same purchaser at 20 gns.
