ADDINGTON MARKETS PARTIAL RECOVERY IN SHEEP A partial recovery was made of last week's drop in sheep values at Addington and there was also a rise in cattle prices. In the store sheep section 2000 were penned, the entry being of better class. Best ewes and lambs sold at 12s Bd, all counted. A truck lot of halfbred ewes near lambing made 21s Gd. for two and four-tooths, and 16s 6d for four, six and tfight-tooths. A pen of quality hoggets made 235. In the fat sheep section about 4000 came forward, compared with 8000 last week. Prices opened at an advance of about 2s 6d a head, eased In the middle of the sale, and revived in the final stages. Prices were still 5s to 6s lower than rates at the end of August, which are the maximum that butchers are not supposed to exceed. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 42s 7d; prime heavy, 37s to 40s; prime medium, 31s to 365; light, 21s to 235; extra prime heavy ewes, to 40s 4d; prime heavy, 29s to 31s 6d; prime medium, 23s to 28s Gd; light, 15s to 19s 6d. Only about 300 fat cattle were entered, about 60 per cent of the normal penning. Good beef was better than a week ago at 30s a head, and recovered the drop of a fortnight ago. The entry of empty 2-year Jersey heifers created a good enquiry. A small entry of sheep was disposed of at recent values. Quotations :—Light fat bullocks, £9 to £lO 10s; light fat heifers, £7 7s 6d to £9; fat Jersey cows, £5 17s 6d to £7; fat Jersey'heifers, £5 15s to £7 4s; heavy bopers, £3 2s 6d to £3 18s; medium boners, £2 2s 6d to £2 17s 6d; lighter do, £1 to £1 17s 6d; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 5s to £4 10s; small light-conditioned Jersey heifers, £2 to £2 15s.
