AUPOURI TRIBE

OFFER FOR ANY BERVICE (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Thursday A statement, on behalf of the Aupouri tribe dissociating them from a resolution opposing conscription, which was passed by a meeting of leaders of the Maori race in North Auckland on September 11, has been forwarded by the Aupouri spokesman, Mr Hemi Manuera. The resolution favoured the enlistment of members of the Maori race for home defence, and suggested the formation of a Maori battalion. Mr Manuera said he had sent a message to the Government expressing the Aupouris’ loyalty and willingness to help in any way. That ollor included service overseas.
