PARLIAMENTARY CONDUCT * EFFECT OF BROADCASTING (By Telegraph.—Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Tuesday “ I think that we should have another thought about the broadcasting of the proceedings of this House,” said Mr T. D. Burnett -opposition—Temuka) during the financial debate in the House of Representatives to-day. “ I know that everyone would agree that the proper dignity of this House is in capable hands in oyur hands, Mr Speaker, but 1 find that the majority of the people of the Dominion have an entirely false conception of how this House is being carried on.” Mr Burnett said be had recently listened in to the House and had been amazed at the false impression he had gained. "it gave me the impression that it was at Donnybrook and brought me back about 40 years to an upcountry race meeting night in the local pub or a dog trial night, and I was expecting to hear a shout of ‘ A bob in,’ ” Mr Burnett continued, lie said the House was a deliberative body, and members did not want it to appear a cheap variety show.
