SOCIAL EVENING The Waitoa Alethodist Ladies’ Guild held a most successful social evening recently in the Sunday school rooms, the proceeds being to defray expenses towards furnishing the new Alethodist parsonage which has just been com- , pleted and is situated in Ngarua Road, Waitoa. There was a large attendance and a happy evening was spent. The Rev. R. W. Alayson opened the proceedings with a welcome to all. Games were played interspersed with items given by the following:—Songs, Ladies Guild choir; vocal solos, Miss Pat Klaus; elocutionary items, Mrs W. Northcott (Tatuanui) ; violin duets, Alisses Betty Yercoe and Joan Luxton; songs, Airs F. Brown; pianoforte and violin duets, Airs W. Haycock and Aliss Z. Rushton; elocutionary items, Betty Luxton; pianoforte solos, .Master Don Luxton; recitation, Mrs Might sen; elocutionary item, Mr P. C. .McNeill. During the supper interval Airs A. J. Luxton, president of the Ladies’ Guild, expressed thanks to all who had assisted to make the evening such a CARDS AND DANCING An enjoyable evening was spent in the local hall recently, there being a large attendance, at a modern and oldtime dance organised by the Anglican Sunday school committee. The proceeds were in aid of the Sunday school funds. Alusic for dancing was provided by ! Mrs W. Glover, .Messrs J. Staiger, W. I Gibbons, H. Coulter and 11.
