DEBATING CONTEST

STUDENTS AT RUAKURA AUCKLAND v. WELLINGTON A feature of the winter farm school being conducted at Ruakura for members of young farmers’ clubs will be a series of debates. To-night the Eastern Bay of Plenty team will meet Waikato and the winner will debate with Western Bay of Plenty tomorrownight. After these contests an Auckland Provincial team will be selected to meet a team representing young farmers’ clubs in the Wellington district, which will travel to Ruakura on Thursday for the contest at night. Following the lines of their own organisation, the young farmers attending the Huakura course have charge of their own affairs, under the supervision of the farm manager, Mr T. E. Rodda. Last night they held a meeting at which a committee and chairman were elected to assist with arrangements during their stay at Ruakura. To-day Hie students were given a lecture on farm machinery by Mr J. M. Campbell, assistant-manager of the farm, and a talk on pigs was given by Mr C. F.. Ballinger, also of the Ruakura staff. A lighter side of the school activities was a series of seven-a-side football matches played this afternoon,
