BMITHFIELD QUOTATIONS LAMB AND MUTTON FIRM BETTER TRADE FOR BEEF (By Telegrapn.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Friday The New Zealand Meat Producers’ report on the SmithAeid market covering the period ended June 29 states the lamb market remains very lirm, and consumption continues good. Wethers are Arm with a better inquiry while ewes are steady. Frozen beef is meeting with better trade, and chilled beef is Anner on a good demand and lighter supplies. Consumption of New Zealand porker pigs is slow but prices are higher on speculative buying. Baconer pigs are Armer owing to higher prices for Continental bacon. Boneless bobby veal continues Arm on a shortage of supplies. Quotations are: New Zealand sheep: Crossbred wethers and or, madden ewes, 57-64 lb, 4d; New Zealand lambs, other than South Island, 461 b and under, 7 3-8 d; North Island downs, second quality, average about 301 b. 7Jd; North Island, Arst quality, 361 b and under, 7id. 37-421 b, 6Jd; second quality, average about 311 b, 6 7-Bd. Australian frozen beef: second quality, hinds 3 7-Bd, crops 3id. New Zealand porker pigs, Arst quality, 61-801 b, 6 7-Bd, 81-1001 b, 6 7-Bd. Baconer pigs, 12i-1601b. 6sd. Boneless bo-bbv veal, ex store In parcels, 5 3-Bd. Chilled beef prices are approximate to the average prices realised for the week.
