HAMILTON BUILDING FIGURES MORE NEW HOUSES INCLUDED The remarkable progress of Hamilton, as exemplified by the building figures issued by the Hamilton Borough Council, has been maintained during the first six months of this year, for which the figures compare more than favourably with those of the corresponding period last year. For the period ended yesterday, 185 permits were issued, involving a total cost of £113,971, and included in the permits were 75 new houses. For the six months last year 145 permits were issued, involving £118,347, and there were 61 new houses erected in the period. For June this year 44 permits were issued, compared with 25 last year, the total sum involved being £19.893 compared with £26,199. Last month permits were issued for 13 new dwellings, compared with 9 in June 1938. Details of the figures are as follows:
