RUGBY CONTROL

WAIKATO UNION MEETS EAST v. WEST MATCH SUGGESTED ANNUAL FIXTURE A suggestion that a Waikato East v. Waikato" West Rugby match should be played each season was put forward at a meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union last evening by Mr J. Graham (Put-aruru;. He said the match .should prove a draw' and could be played on different sub-union grounds each year. The game would not be in the nature of a trial but on the lines of similar fixtures played in other areas. A game of the nature proposed by Mr Graham was certainly needed, said the chairman,' Mr A. St.C. Belcher. This year Waikato had a comparatively light representative programme and a Waikato East v. Waikato West fixture could probably be arranged towards the end of the season. The proposal was not discussed further, it being left to delegates to discuss the matter at sub-union meetings and report at the next meeting of the Waikato Union. Primary School’s Union Notification was received of the formation of a Waikato Primary Schools' Rugby Union with a request for affiliation to and representation on the Waikato Rugby Union. Affiliation was granted but it was pointed out that the present rules did not allow lor representation. It was decided, however, that the schools’ union be invited to send a delegate to future meetings of the Waikato Union and that steps be taken to. amend the rules to make possible the representation asked for. In reply to a letter from "the Bay of Plenty Union stating that it was not possible to arrange a match with Waikato in August, the secretary was instructed to ascertain if the game could be played on July 29. The union decided to recommend the appointment of Messrs H. Frost (Auckland) and G. A. Maddison (Hastings) as delegates to the Imperial Rugby Conference to be held in London in December. Mr H. T. Haselden (Te Awamutu) was appointed manager of the Waikato team to play Auckland, at Auckland on July 1.
